Tulum Weather
Tulum Mexico Weather
Welcome back to another series of TULUM adventures this will be part two. TULUM’s weather is much like I would say Miami if you live in the states you know if you’ve ever been to Miami the weather there is bipolar let me tell you a little story about how we were going on a day trip to Xel-Ha.

Be Mindful of Every Activity you Book
It is about a 15 minute drive from our Airbnb. We had woken up early that morning and called the cab driver and asked the cab driver to take us to Xel-ha when he arrives we checked our weather app and it said it was raining all day, one of the guys had told him ‘hey it’s gonna be raining all day I don’t really think we’re going to go anymore can you come back around like 1030 and maybe will go to Dos ojos.’ The problem is Xel-ha is an archaeological park it’s basically everything is outdoors, we’re swimming in like a river everything is out in the open. However Dos ojos was more like a cave.
Back to the topic of weather, the driver had chuckled at my friend he said “this is Mexico the weather changes every five minutes it’s really not a big deal” and my friend found that really strange. When he came back to us he was like “he was acting a little sus I don’t know if he was trying to rip us off or not but he said the rains going to go away so I told him just come back at 10:30 and we will go to a different location” the driver had left and we went back to bed because it was only 7am so we went back to sleep and when we had woken up it was sunny outside. When I mean sunny, I mean sunny there were no clouds. It was hot and humid and we were confused because the weather app still said it was going to be raining 100% all day.

Basically we were bamboozled and the driver had told us the “weathers going to change, don’t worry” but we didn’t believe him because we’re New Yorkers and we believe everybody is suspicious.
Trust The Locals
So let me give you a good tip just be prepared for any weather. TRUST THE LOCALS WHEN IT COMES TO WEATHER! We went in January and the weather was beautiful it was high 70s low 80s and it had rained for maybe about five minutes or 10 minutes on that day and the rest was sunny. We assumed the weather app was just telling us that it may rain today. It wasn’t snt bad it was really just like drizzling. Throughout the full week it probably rained twice while we were there. We had gotten caught in the rain I believe our third day because we didn’t wanna stay home and they said it was raining all day but we didn’t wanna get fooled again so we just went out but it actually did rain and we were not bamboozled this time. The weather app was actually accurate it was raining all day. We had biked from downtown TULUM to the beaches at around like 9 PM and it was pouring we had to literally stop at each bus stop to stay under the bus stop roofs to stay away from the rain because we were biking.

I would say don’t trust the weather app like you would trust it in your home city but I would say just keep an eye out before you go on vacation make sure the month you’re going on isnt rainy season or hurricane season so you won’t really have to deal with a lot of rain but just be wary because it is a tropical destination. Rain is bound to come down I mean obviously you can buy an umbrella but we didn’t really find it necessary and I don’t think you should either.
No Slacking Allowed
PS don’t just bring sandals and flip-flops I would assume you wouldn’t because it’s a vacation and you are about to do some fun activities that you need sneakers for, but if it’s just a vacation and you’re planning to just sit in the sun I would still advise you just to bring a pair of sneakers just in case. One pair could help you out in the long run. Always be prepared.
